Altai Research and Development Institute for Machine Building Technology (ANITIM) was founded on 02 November 1957. In 1967 it became the headliner of the tractor and agricultural machinery building in the field of sanitary treatment of parts, preservation and packaging, and in 1974 – in the field of welding and cold forging. In 1982, due to establishment of Scientific and Production Association on the basis of the Institute, the possibilities for improving the scientific and technical level of industry enterprises were expanded.

Creative success of the team was creation, for the first time in the world practice, of technology and equipment for multi-pass longitudinal rolling. ANITIM scientists made a significant contribution to the development of explosion welding. This technology was used in cladding approximately 200 blades of impellers of hydroturbines installed at Krasnoyarsk, Charvak, Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power stations and hydroelectric power station Site-1 (Canada), and in producing 10 thousand tons of billets for the production of corrosion-resistant bimetal. The Institute has been awarded the Prize of the USSR Council of Ministers for its work in this field.

The ANITIM's research in explosion, spin welding and spline rolling, won four gold medals at the International Leipzig Fair in 1985. The team has developed 46 automatic lines for the production of combine parts to carry out the state order for technical re-equipment of the industry’s plants. A range of technologies and equipment has been created for semihot upset of parts, cutting wide-rolled steel, cleaning and heat treatment of castings in molten salts.

Currently, ANITIM performs a large amount of work on the technical re-equipment of Russian enterprises.

Reinforced tools made using the technology of thermal contact cladding TM ANITIM won a silver medal in an independent professional competition of innovative equipment Agrosalon-2018.

Altai Research and Development Institute for Machine Building Technology received an award for the development and implementation of the technology of surface hardening by welding the tools of tillage machines and units. ANITIM JSC changed the principal approach to manufacturing the wing sweeps by using the method of thermal contact cladding with directional solidification of reinforcing layer. The method of directional solidification during the production of metal alloy parts consists of zoned cooling and heating the product in order for solidification to process in a required way. Implementation of this method allows to raise the hardness of the cutting edge to 60-65 HRC (compare with the hardness of rolling contact bearings, 60 HRC).
